Did you know that one of the most bankable film producers in Hollywood is a Mexican-American by the name of Roberto Orcí? Orcí and his frequent collaboration partner, Alex Kurtzman, recognized their love for filmmaking after watching the Indie-classic, Sex, Lies, and Videotape. The two began writing scripts for television and films including the first three films of the Transformer series. Orcí has also collaborated on multiple projects with famed director J.J. Abrams including Mission Impossible III and both Star Trek and Star Trek Into Darkness. Orcí’s films have earned revenues of over $3 billion. I met with Roberto last month in LA with his father. The elder Orcí runs one of the most successful Hispanic marketing firms in the country. Unlike other Hollywood types, Orcí is down to earth and very proud of his heritage. Thanks to Sol Trujillo, Orcí will be working with us on a project at next year’s NAHREP Convention that will highlight some of the best and brightest Latinos in film and television. Very exciting stuff!
