I was raised a Christian and celebrate Christmas, but I also believe that the holiday season belongs to other religions and cultures. In fact, to me, learning about how other families celebrate the holiday season is one of the best parts of the season. A favorite holiday movie of mine is Love Actually, a British film with an ensemble cast of stars including Hugh Grant, Emma Thompson, and Liam Neeson. The opening and closing scenes feature actual footage of families and friends greeting each other at the airport. If those scenes don’t illustrate what the essence of the holiday season should represent, I don’t know what will. Christmas to me is not about presents or office parties, it’s about the celebration of family and the opportunity to express our gratitude to the people that matter most to all of us. Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays to all.
