Last week I mentioned that this year’s NBA draft is widely considered one of the most talent rich in years however, many basketball experts say if the 6’11” Marvin Bagley III and 6’8″ Zion Williamson, both rising seniors at Sierra Canyon High School in Los Angeles and Spartanburg Day School in South Carolina were eligible for last month’s draft, they would have been selected number one and number two over Markelle Fultz and Lonzo Ball. Bagley and Williamson both handle the ball better than most NBA point guards and run the floor like track stars. No word yet on where the young stars will play college ball, but NBA Scouts have already hailed them the next Lebron James and Charles Barkley.
The NFL markets its brand as well as any enterprise in the world. I heard a comedian once say that the NFL is so popular, it has its own day. NFL football is huge. Each NFL franchise brings in approximately $400M a year in revenue; almost double the annual revenue of NBA teams and 2 ½ times as much as MLB clubs.
